This route begins by descending along the Arroyo path, surrounded by wonderful almond trees. It follows the stream of the Arroyo Seco and up to Puerto Alto, there the hardest part of the road will begin, but at the same time you will be contemplating wonderful landscapes.
From the top are spectacular views of La Sierra de las Nieves, among others, with its highest massif in the province of Malaga, Torrecilla.
At the starting point, two paths begin, the Sotornil path straight ahead, and the Arroyo path to the right, which is the the path you will follow. This path quickly forks in two, and you take the one on the left, which is the one that descends steeply.
The descent is surrounded by almond trees, passes a horse arena and ends when you reach the confluence of the Piora and Seco streams. After a section of about 600 meters next to the bed of the stream that carries water most of the year and contains rich riverside vegetation, the path crosses a newly built bridge, after which the lane forks at the point where the route becomes circular, and you can go eoither way.
Taking the branch on the right begins the ascent towards Puerto Alto. This is the hardest part of the route, since the climb will be hard and continuous, however, as you gain altitude, you get the reward of wonderful landscapes.
Behind you is Guaro and the slopes full of almond trees (in bloom in spring), ahead you see Torrecilla in the Sierra de las Nieves and to the north we see Sierra Prieta and Alozaina. Shortly before reaching the highest point of Cerro de Los Altos, there is the crossroads where, the one on the left goes downhill again to the Arroyo Seco valley, ending at the junction of the path and the one on the Right takes you up to contemplate the ascent to Puerto Alto.
The views are spectacular when you arrive at Puerto Alto. You can see Coín, Monda, Alhaurín el Grande, the Guadalhorce Valley and the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park with the El Torrecilla massif, to the south Sierra Canucha with the Los Cuchillos peaks, to the north Sierra Prieta and Sierra Cabrilla, and Alozaina. Now at the highest point instead of following the path that is the GR Sierra de las Nieves that leads to Tolox, talke the one on the left that begins a very steep descent again towards the Arroyo Seco.
