Air China is the largest commercial airline in China. Currently a state-owned enterprise it is being gradually trnsformed into a joint-stock company with diversified share-holding. It has a growing reputation for high levels of service combined with a traditional Chinese welcome. Their logo, the phoenix, is a symbol of good fortune and based on an artistic perception of the letters "VIP". They have business offices in more than 29 domestic cities and representative offices in 48 overseas cities. I flew to Beijing from London on an Air China flight recently (Decembe 2004) and was very impressed by the level of service and the efficiency of the whole operation. We took off and landed on time, the food and in-flight service were good and the staff very polite and helpful. Incidentally, I am not connected with Air China!

Air China believe in offering their passengers high quality service in comfort. They operate one of the worlds most modern fleets, the average age being only two years. The fleet comprises 70 aircraft and includes Boeing 767s, 747s and 737s. Air China has made orders for further aircraft including 12 Boeing 777s and 35 Boeing 737-800 regional aircraft.
