Hawker and Hall Family Trees

Notes

Kate Lydia Bartlett

Email from Alex Morris to Graham Hawker dated 29 June 2007 states:
"Kate Lydia James (nee Bartlett) ... died
in 1965, or at least I have found a record for a Kate L. James in the Malvern
district who is the right age (90). Also I notice that you have William Hawker
(b. 1841) father of Frederick William et. al. as 'died before 1912'. The only
record I can find that would fit his date of birth is a William Hawker who died
in 1911 but that is recorded in Barrow Upon Soar in Leicestershire, which seems
odd. Perhaps the 1911 census will be of use when it comes out."

Haden Shakespeare

In an email in August 2005 from Mary Looise Shakesèare to Marsha Bowman, she states:
As for Haden's info re: brothers, sister - that is all correct. One of Stu's cousins lives
in California and he has come here to visit. His name is Jon Shakespeare. When
Stu's mother died both Aunt Lil and Uncle Walt Pflughaupt - Eugene's parents plus
Uncle Don and Aunt Alta wanted to adopt Stu because Haden was a baker and
worked all night - slept in the daytime. But he had already lost his wife Phoebe
through childbirth and didn't want to give up his son also. Both families had a son
close to Stu's age - Eugene Pflughaupt and Jon Shakespeare. Uncle Walt was the
brother to Phoebe Pflughaupt Shakespeare. Don Shakespeare was the brother to
Haden.

The brother Donovan (we always called him Donald) In fact Stu's middle name is
Donald after his uncle - anyway he and Alta had 2 children - Jon and Ellyn.

Phoebe Pflughaupt

Email dated 5 August 2005 to Graham Hawker from Marsha Bowman states:
"I am just starting to research the Shakespeare branch of my family. I can tell you that
Stuart Shakespeare was born on June 8, 1926. His mother, Phoebe Pflughaupt
Shakespeare was born on June 23, 1891. They were both born in Des Plaines, Illino
is. Phoebe died on July 15, 1926 of complications arising from Stu's birth. Stu died
on February 26, 1993."

Rosanna Hawker

Email received by Graham George Hawker 11 April 2004:
"My great grandmother, born March 7, 1858 in Grimley, Worcester married William Haycock
around 1880 as their first child was born in 1881.  I am thinking her father was Thomas and her
mother Hannah, but I know nothing of siblings.  Her own children were named Alice, William,
Mary Ann, Annie Jane, Charles and Emma, so I think I can assume that some her siblings
also had those names. She ended up living in Smethwick. My grandmother, her daughter Mary
Ann, came to America and never returned to England.

Is this the family you speak of?

Mary "

Mary Ann Haycock

Email received by Graham George Hawker 11 April 2004:

Elizabeth Shakespeare

Information on this family provided by Jean Tomkins (nee Hawker) in a letter to George and Rubbinnia Hawker dated 16 February 1992.
She states that Elizabeth had an illegitimate child, Samuel, in 1824 who was living with his grandparents in 1841.
Elain Woodall, in an email to Graham Hawker on 27 May 2008 states that the marriage certificate of Samuel
Shakespeare born in Dudley, Worcestershire in 1824 only gives his mothers' name - Elizabeth Shakespeare - no
fathers' name at all.

As regards what became of Samuel's mother, Elizabeth, there were two
recorded marriages of an Elizabeth around that time in that area:

Elizabeth Shakespeare married Richard Wood
15 SEP 1833 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England

Elizabeth Shakespeare married John Elcox
28 DEC 1835 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England

So it would be interesting to see if an Elizabeth Wood or Elizabeth
Elcox was living near John and Rosannah in 1841 or if John and Rosannah
left a will mentioning either of these two names.
