Email received 17 August 2006 by Graham Hawker states:
Dear Mr Hawker

I have recently come across your family history information on
www.ancestry.co.uk. May I say that it is increbibly impressive! My own
research into this has only scratched the surface but I can add something I
think although I suspect that you may already know this.

Frederick William Hawker (b. 1864 Eldersfield) and Ellen Louise Bartlett ( b.
1864) had 10 children to my knowledge.

Harriet b. 1884
Charles b. 1885
Nellie b. 1888
Edith b. 1890
Mabel - died young of influenza
Frederick b. 1893
Albert b. 1897
Kate b. 1900
Elsie b. 1905
Tom - Don't know the date!

Phew, quite a lot and indeed enough to win them a commemorative plate from the
Daily Express!!! (as recorded in the Upton local paper on the occasion of
their 50th wedding anniversary). This information comes from Kate, who died
1997 and was my great-grandmother and from her daughter Joan, my grandmother.

Hope this is useful although I imagine most of it is not new to you as you
appear to have a very impressive amount of data already!

Best wishes with any future research

Further email received 18 August:
Frederick William Hawker (b. 1864) died 1st September 1938. I have attatched a
copy of the newspaper report on his funeral. I don't have a copy of the one on
their 50th wedding anniversery which is possibly more interesting although I
will try and find it.

Ellen Louisa Bartlett (wife of the above) died 1945 aged 80.

I can assure you that none of their children are still alive. Elsie Doris (b.
1905) was the last to die, in 1999. She was married to Harry Drinkwater.

- Harriet Louisa was married to William Barnes (and remarried late in life
when she was widdowed). She died in 1972.
- Charles was married to Alice, they lived in West Bromwich
- Edith married James CHAPMAN. She died in 1929 and he remarried.
- Frederick married Grace. He died in 1987.
- Albert married Win (Wynne?)
- Kate married Charles William PAYNE (Bill) on 20th October 1920 at Ripple.
She died in 1997.
- Elsie married Harry Drinkwater, see above.
- Tom married Ann

On the funeral piece in the paper you can see mention of his surviving
children ie. the above minus Edith (although Jim Chapman is mentioned) as well
as others.

- Mrs James of Bushley is Kate Lydia James (sister to Ellen Louisa Bartlett).
She had two children, Horace and Eileen. I think her husband must have died
relatively young as my grandmother only knew her as a widow.
- Mr and Mrs C Hawker of Forthampton is Frederick's brother Charles.
- Jim and Ada are James Bartlett (b. 1877) and Ada Dando. They both lived to
be very old, Ada died in 1969. 'Maud and Victor' is Jim and Ada's daughter
Maud and family. I believe Maud had a brother and that either Maud or her
brother emmigrated to Australia, but I'd have to ask my grandmother.
- Reuben Hawker is Reuben Albert Hawker (b. 1880) died in 1942. He was married
to Olive VIVIAN I believe.
- Charlie and Doll Bartlett puzzle me! Any ideas?

Email received 23 March 2007:
I have taken the photograph which Elizabeth Gelhard sent you to show to my
grandmother. I don't think it is any of the Hawkers although all four of
Frederick and Ellen's sons did serve in the military. When they were in Malta
(approximately 1905-1908) only Charles would have been old enough however. The
man on the right looks rather like Jim Charman himself, my grandmother thought
(although she only knew him around 20-30 years later) and could it possibly be
him or a brother? One idea is that it could be Jim Charman and Albert Charlwood
as they were both young soldiers who married Hawker women in Malta in the
1900s. Just a thought. I have attached two things which might be of interest to
you. Firstly, a newspaper clipping from 1933 on the Golden Wedding anniversary
of Frederick and Ellen Hawker which is quite good fun. Secondly a photo which I
thought might be of interest to Elizabeth and would be very grateful if you
could pass it onto her. It shows (from left to right) Kath Charman (Elizabeth's
grandmother and second wife of Jim Charman), Ellen Louise Hawker, Charles
Hawker (b. 1885, the eldest son of Frederick and Ellen), Ada Bartlett (nee
Dando, wife of Jim Bartlett, Ellen's brother), Jim Bartlett. The cheeky looking
young boy at the bottom is Donald son of Kath and Jim Charman and, I presume,
Elizabeth's father (I think he was an only child).

Frederick Hawker

Email from Rhonda and Terry Bartlett tp Graham Geporge Hawker dated 9 June 2005 states:

Further details on the Ellen Louisa BARTLETT and Frederick William
HAWKER family.
It is interesting to see in the 1901 census that probably because of his
Army career they moved around a lot because further children are listed
Edith born 1890 in Ireland; Frederick born 1894 in Ireland; Albert born
1898 in Bermuda West Indies; and then Kate born 1900 at Aldershot
Best wishes
Rhonda and Terry Bartlett

Kate Lydia Bartlett

Email from Alex Morris to Graham Hawker dated 29 June 2007 states:
"Kate Lydia James (nee Bartlett) ... died
in 1965, or at least I have found a record for a Kate L. James in the Malvern
district who is the right age (90). Also I notice that you have William Hawker
(b. 1841) father of Frederick William et. al. as 'died before 1912'. The only
record I can find that would fit his date of birth is a William Hawker who died
in 1911 but that is recorded in Barrow Upon Soar in Leicestershire, which seems
odd. Perhaps the 1911 census will be of use when it comes out."
